What should I do first?

The first thing to do is check whether your loved one left any instructions or requests about their funeral.

This may be laid out in their Will, Expression of Wishes form, or spoken about with someone close to them. Often, people have specific wishes for their final arrangements, such as choosing between burial or cremation, selecting a preferred venue, or identifying a special place for scattering their ashes. They may also have particular wishes for music, readings, or other elements to be included in the service.

If there are no instructions, or if no Will exists, then decisions will have to be made regarding the type of funeral and the costs involved.

It is a good idea to talk to other family members about the different options and discuss what is practical, affordable and, of course, appropriate. It is important to remember, however, that the final decisions will usually be up to you.

Providing gentle guidance, we are here to assist you through every moment. Whether it’s arranging funeral services, offering practical advice, or simply lending a listening ear, we prioritise your comfort and well-being above all else.
